Basic knowledge and skills must enable the first aider to acquire the necessary understanding in order to:
- Recognize life-threatening medical conditions ;
- Apply first aid principles while awaiting the arrival of specialized emergency services.
When the company’s activities do not pose specific risks to employees, basic training is sufficient.
This basic training should be known and implemented across all companies.

Results
You are continuously assessed by the instructor. Upon a positive evaluation, you will receive a certificate. This certificate can remain valid indefinitely, provided you attend a 4-hour refresher course each year. See: first aid refresher training.

Several key chapters from the course are practiced on a manikin during the practical session, such as techniques for compromised breathing, ventilation methods, resuscitation in case of cardiac failure, and moving a casualty, among others.
