AV-001 - Forklift - Basic - 3 days - English - Wetteren

for people without experience

Learning to operate a forklift truck safely and efficiently

Teaching the basic techniques to:

- Train drivers to assume a safety function and to become efficient goods handlers who can report defects/faults preventatively.

- Prevent accidents/injuries and damage to products and to minimise transport damage

- Acquire a safe and dynamic driving style

Program

  • The training
  • The theoretic exam takes 20 minutes (max 30)
  • The practical exam takes about 30 minutes

Conditions of admission

  • At least 18 years old
  • Being in possession of a certificate of medical fitness (a/o for safety function)

Practical

  • What to take with you:
    • Identity papers
    • Work clothes
    • Safety shoes
    • Safety gloves

Target audience

- Every employee who in a warehouse or production environment must carry out simple acts with a forklift truck (tasks with low level of difficulty, in an open space, repetitive work without time pressure).

Results

Theory
  • Knowledge of the content of the safety function

  • Knowledge of work permits and ability to interpret and comply with them

  • Knowledge of safety regulations

  • Knowledge of important concepts related to the construction of forklift trucks

  • Knowledge of the different types of drive systems and their areas of application

  • Knowing the elements that make up the start-up check

  • Knowing that there are different types of pallets and storage methods

  • Knowing which factors influence the load and stability of the forklift truck

  • Understanding and being able to use load diagrams

  • Knowing the basic legislation for a forklift truck driver

Practice
  • Applying safety and traffic rules

  • Being able to carry out daily inspections of the forklift truck correctly

  • Applying the correct mounting and dismounting technique and parking the forklift truck safely

  • Being able to use the controls correctly

  • Being able to connect and disconnect batteries

  • Using good driving techniques: forwards, backwards

  • Performing manoeuvres: turning, cornering, forwards and backwards, passing through narrow passages

  • Being able to estimate distances, depth and height

  • Stacking goods in a space with a maximum of 1 metre clearance on the turning circle

  • Maintaining order and tidiness
