IS-003 - Fixed telehandler advanced - 2 days - French - Boom

for people with limited experience

Learning to use a telehandler effectively and safely:

- Move around in an industrial environment
- Lift loads in height and/or at a distance
- Move loads safely and effectively
- Drop off loads at height and/or distance
- Load and unload a truck safely and effectively

Program

  • The training
  • The theoretic exam takes 20 minutes (max 30)
  • The practical exam takes about 30 minutes

Conditions of admission

  • At least 18 years old
  • Being in possession of a certificate of medical fitness

Practical

  • What to bring with you:
    • Identity papers
    • Work clothes
    • Safety shoes
    • Gloves
    • Helmet

Target audience

- Persons who have to work with a rigid telehandler on company premises, in installations, stacking at a distance and at height, driving and stacking in confined spaces, under time pressure, in the vicinity of important installations, loading and unloading lorries, in places with pedestrian and/or other traffic. For employees working in the (petro)chemical industry, this examination must be taken at an accredited centre.

Results

Theory
  • Be able to explain what a telehandler is and know the different applications.

  • Be able to list the operations for which a telehandler can be used.

  • Be able to recognize the related means of transport for horizontal and vertical transport.

  • Know the tools for horizontal and vertical transport and handling of special loads

  • Recognize different types of pallets and storage methods.

  • Explain the important concepts related to the construction of the telescopic handler.

  • To correctly interpret the basic rules for operating a telescopic handler.

  • Correctly interpret safety and traffic regulations.

  • Enumerate the factors that can affect stability.

  • Interpret a loading diagram.

  • Name the components of the start-up check.

  • Perform a Last Minute Risk Analysis (LMRA).

Practice
  • Perform a start control.

  • Perform a slalom, forward and reverse with 4 wheel steering.

  • Drive through a narrow passage forwards and backwards.

  • Be able to pick up a high load on the forks, move and drop it.

  • Drop and pick up various loads at a height with the forks.

  • Gripping a long horizontal load (at least 4m), straightening it and depositing it in another designated direction.

  • Be able to park a telescopic handler at a designated spot.
